Chief Products Bushing Upgrade KIT was designed for older versions of our WK2 Sump Protection Plate (purchased before February 2016). It uses an extremely easy-to-install poly bushing system to eliminate creaking that can be caused by prolonged metal to metal friction.

Chief Products Bushing Upgrade Kit was designed for older versions of our WK2 Sump Protection Plate (purchased before February 2016). It uses an extremely easy-to-install poly bushing system to eliminate creaking that can be caused by prolonged metal to metal friction.
Most industry protection-skid-bash plates are bolted to the vehicle metal-to-metal (metal plate bolted to a metal frame member). The paint on each of these parts provides a barrier, but over a prolonged period the paint barrier can wear through creating direct metal-to-metal contact. This metal-to-metal contact can produce creaking sounds. For occasional off-roaders this often isn't a problem, since there isn't enough rubbing during normal driving to wear through the paint barrier. For more adventurous off-roaders who take long trips over corrugations or regularly perform off-roading that causes significant chassis flex, we found (during our in-the-field testing) that creaking can develop after 1-2 years. While most in the industry ignore this problem, (it often occurs outside of the warranty period) we decided to engineer a solution.
NOTE - All of our new WK2 Sump Protection Plates (sold after February 2016) are designed to avoid the creaking issue, so this kit is not needed. We offer this kit (at our cost) as a convenience for customers with older versions of our WK2 Sump Protection Plate.

High StrengthEngineer rated to 4,500kg WLL (1.5 times GVM of WK2). 1.5 times GVM is considered the engineering minimum standard for recovery points. A 3,000kg GVM vehicle stuck in deep mud/sand needs a high-strength recovery point to safely withstand the forces encountered during recovery. Our engineer rating jumps to 8,000kg when our recovery points are used as a pair with a bridle strap.
Winch CompatibilityIf you're installing a winch (or plan to be recovered by one) you'll want a recovery attachment point that is up to the task. For a 10,000lb winch you'll want a recovery attachment point with a minimum WLL of 4,500kg.
SafetyIn addition to the engineer rated design, our recovery point also features a 5mm radius on all exposed edges. This ensures safe use with soft shackle recovery gear, while also meeting the required government safety standards (Australian Design Rules as well as various European Pedestrian Safety Standards). The closed loop design delivers a 'Closed Recovery System' ensuring recovery gear won't fall off during recovery. Finally, while our recovery point protrudes through the opening in the lower fascia for easy attachment of recovery gear, it doesn't extend beyond the front most part of the bumper.

Industry Leading Corrosion ProtectionWe utilise E-Coat (Electrophoretic Coating) to provide the very highest corrosion protection available for steel automotive parts. Deposited from a water-based solution using a high voltage DC charge, the process coats all wet surfaces with an extremely tough and highly corrosion resistant finish that is unlike any other process. On top of that industry-leading electrophoretic coating we apply 80µm of extremely durable powder coat (advanced polyester thermosetting powder). Finally, whenever possible we build our products with highly corrosion resistant materials and fasteners (stainless steel, aluminium alloys, etc.) to provide enduring protection against corrosion when a coating is scratched or damaged off-road.
Mirror Polish That LastsOur mirror polished 304 Stainless Steel keeps looking good for longer. Polished aluminium bars tend to develop a white haze from oxidation that causes them to lose their lustre.
Top Quality Finishing TouchesWe include all the details that matter. Electrophoretic Coating on all mounting plates. High tensile bolts for maximum strength. Wedge-Lock washers to create bolted joints that are extremely resistant to loosening. Anti-Seize for bolted joints that are resistant to seizing. A Chief Products Shop Rag for all the dirty jobs around the garage. All packaged with extreme care to arrive safely and looking great. -
